Multiple pregnancy
Pregnancy with a baby
creates enough changes in your life, not to mention your body, that it can be
hard to imagine twins or twins.
Much of this increase
is due to women waiting until their thirties to have children, as well as an increase
in the use of fertility treatments.
Signs I may be
wearing more than one:
- Rapid weight gain in the first trimester
- The uterus is larger than expected
- Severe nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, or other pregnancy symptoms
- Higher hCG levels
Complications I may
be exposed to:
- Premature birth
- Low birth weight
- Preeclampsia (high blood pressure)
- Mandatory aspects of antenatal care in multiple pregnancies:
- Early prenatal care
- Early increase in food intake
- More frequent trips to the doctor
- You may also need additional ultrasounds and increased capacity for bed rest.
