Sleeping and nap problems
Month 15
Here are some tips on baby
sleep habits:
- Your 15 month old can and should sleep through the night. If not, ask your pediatrician.
- Babies need about 12-14 hours of sleep.
- Children who wake up sleepy don't get enough sleep.
After you've been chasing your
little one around the house and yard all day, your child's sleep will become a
well-deserved luxury for you. This is an opportunity for you to meet friends,
read or just relax.
Your baby's development this month
If your little one seems to
love everything, it's because that's the way it is. His hand-eye coordination
is becoming more precise every day, allowing him to lift, throw, and pick up
objects.
Fifteen-month-old children
explore with their hands:
- Turning dials and knobs
- Stacking blocks and knocking them over
- Put toys in holes or boxes
- Rolling balls
You need to make sure those
curious hands don't wander into anything dangerous, like an open electrical
outlet or a hot oven.
At this time, your child is
also exploring with both hands. By the end of the second year of life, she may
begin to prefer either the right or the left hand.
Tips of the month 15
- Set sleep mode every night. Start with a warm bath followed by a soothing story and cuddle time.
- At this age, it is normal to let the baby cry a little in his crib after he is sure that he is not sick, hungry or uncomfortable.
- Encourage rest by placing your child in a quiet, dark room and playing soothing music.
- Give your child toys that help him understand how things fit together, such as simple puzzles and shape sorters.
- Make sure your child gets enough calcium for strong bones by giving him plenty of milk, yogurt and cheese.
- Be careful with foods your child may choke on, such as grapes, popcorn, hard candy and hot dogs. Cut foods into small, child-friendly pieces.
- The whole day chasing the baby is very tiring! Be sure to allow time for recharging.
