Can you get pregnant during your period?
You most likely won't get
pregnant by having sex during your period. This is due to the fact that there
are several days left before ovulation, which reduces the chances of getting
pregnant at this time. However, there are exceptions. This applies to women
whose typical cycle is 28-30 days or more. If you have a shorter cycle, say
every 21-24 days, that means you are ovulating earlier in your cycle. Because
sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days, you can have sex towards the end of
your period and then conceive 4 or 5 days later when you ovulate early.
The chances of getting
pregnant during your period are low, but the possibilities are there. Now is
not the time to have sex if you are trying to get pregnant.
Can you get pregnant right after your period?
You are entering a fertility
window, so yes, you can get pregnant right after your period. In a typical
cycle that occurs every 28-30 days, the fertility window is usually between 11
and 21 days. Remember that spermatozoa can live up to 5 days. If your period
(bleeding time) lasts 5-7 days and you have sex right after that, you are
approaching your fertile window.
Can you get pregnant on the last day of your period?
If you stopped bleeding on day
6, had sex on day 7, and ovulated on day 11, it's possible that day 6 sperm are
waiting in your fallopian tubes to conceive. Your chances of conceiving right
after your period increase every day after the bleeding stops. If you are
trying to conceive, now is the time to have sex. Increase your chances of
conceiving by having sex every other day for the next 14 days.
Can you get pregnant right before your period?
The chances of getting
pregnant right before your period are extremely low. For women with a typical
cycle of 28-30 days or longer, and their cycles are regular, it's safe to say
that your ovulation was between days 11 and 21. The egg is only available for
12-24 hours for design.
This means that the days just
before your period are the safest to have sex without expecting to get
pregnant. The number of "safe days" just before your period increases
with longer cycles and decreases with shorter cycles.
If you are waiting 36-48 hours after ovulation, you must be out of conception. The further you are from ovulation, the less likely you are to conceive. Now is not the time to have sex if you are trying to conceive. This is always a good time to enjoy intimacy with your partner.
